Meet Aaron Lewis
Aaron E. Lewis is a proud gay veteran, husband, and community advocate dedicated to building a fairer and more compassionate Orange County. As Co-Founder and President of the Framily Support Network, he has spent his career fighting to remove barriers that keep families trapped in poverty and homelessness, working to ensure every resident has the chance to live with dignity and opportunity.
Born to Trinidadian and Jamaican parents and raised in Orlando, Aaron’s life embodies resilience, service, and a deep belief in community. His journey, from military service to nonprofit leadership, has shaped his commitment to equity, accountability, and action.
A committed progressive, Aaron believes local government should serve people first. He’s running for Orange County Commissioner, District 7, to fight for affordable housing, flood resilience, small business growth, and safer, stronger neighborhoods.
Aaron lives in Orlando with his husband and believes that when neighbors come together, there’s nothing we can’t accomplish.
District 7 Priorities
District 7 deserves a future where every neighborhood is safe, connected, and thriving.
My priorities focus on protecting our homes, improving mobility, and strengthening the communities that make our district unique.
-
When I say Homes People Can Afford, I mean expanding the supply of housing that working families, seniors, and young people can actually pay for—without being cost burdened or pushed out of their communities. That includes increasing diverse housing options, removing unnecessary barriers that drive up costs, supporting workforce and mixed-income housing, and ensuring public policies prioritize long-term affordability over short-term speculation.
-
When I talk about countywide flood resilience, I mean preparing every community for stronger storms, heavier rainfall, and rising water levels. That includes investing in modern drainage infrastructure, protecting neighborhoods that flood repeatedly, using data driven planning, and coordinating across jurisdictions so flood prevention is proactive, equitable, and built to last.
-
This means building a public transportation system that works for real life—not just rush hour. It’s about expanding routes so more people can access jobs, schools, healthcare, and services; reducing long wait times that make transit unreliable; and extending service hours so shift workers, students, and families aren’t left stranded or forced into expensive alternatives.
-
Accountability in public education means putting students and families first by being honest about what’s working and what isn’t. It’s about protecting public education as a public good while demanding transparency in decision-making, responsible use of taxpayer dollars, and outcomes that actually prepare students for real life. This includes pushing back on policies that undermine public schools, supporting educators in the classroom, and ensuring every child has access to a high-quality education.
-
This priority focuses on safety solutions that are rooted in the community and proven to work. It means investing in prevention, mental health support, youth programs, neighborhood partnerships, and crisis response strategies that reduce harm before it happens, while ensuring first responders have the tools they need. Real safety comes from trust, coordination, and addressing the root causes of violence.
As Your Next Commissioner
My job is simple — to make Orange County work for all of us, not just some of us.
No matter your age, background, or circumstance, you deserve safety, stability, and opportunity.
-
You shouldn’t have to leave Orange County to build your life. I’ll expand rental and startup support, create a Youth Leadership Council to give you a voice in county policy, and invest in local programs that help young people turn ideas into action.
-
It’s time Orange County worked for working people. I’ll expand affordable housing near jobs, open doors for small businesses to win county contracts, and support financial programs that help families get ahead — not fall behind.
-
Our seniors deserve comfort, safety, and connection. I’ll push for more affordable senior housing, better transportation to stores and clinics, and community hubs that double as safe spaces during storms. You’ve earned stability — and the county should make sure you have it.
-
No parent should have to choose between keeping a job and caring for their family. I’ll fight for affordable childcare, stronger family resource centers, and parks designed for kids to play safely while parents can breathe easy.
-
Every child deserves a safe place to grow and dream. I’ll invest in after-school, arts, and esports programs, push for safer school crossings, and make sure mental health and family support services are available where they’re needed most.
-
No one should be left outside with nowhere to turn. I’ll fight for more open access shelters across the county, shared housing options, and mobile outreach teams that connect people to services — treating homelessness with compassion and action.
